Charleston Parks

The following parks are in the City of Charleston Parks System:  

Heritage Woods Park:  .3 acres; Woodlawn Drive

Lafferty Nature Study Area:  7 acres; S. Douglas Drive

Lake Charleston:  440 acres; S. State Highway 130

Lakeview Park:  60 acres; E. McKinley Avenue

Lincoln Prairie Grass Trail:  12 miles of paved trail for bicyclists, joggers, and walkers connecting Charleston and Mattoon, parking available where Madison Avenue and Old State Road run parallel (39.499, -88.198) and just east of Country Club Road (39.498, -88.226). Additional parking is at Seaton Field on Division Street. No motorized traffic allowed. Comfort station at Loxa Road.

North Park:  10 acres; Vine Street

Woods Park:  .8 acre; N. 11th Street & Poplar
Woodyard Conservation Area:  206 acres; 6050 State Highway 130


Reservations

Park pavilions available to reserve are the Kiwanis Park Pavilion, Sister City Pavilion (structure with fireplace), and the Lake Charleston Pavilion. The Lake Charleston Pavilion requires a $10 fee for weekend reservations. These pavilions can be reserved online at RecDesk.  You may also call the Parks and Recreation office at 217-345-6897 or come into the office at 520 Jackson Ave., second floor.  All other park pavilions are available on a  first come, first served basis. Reservations are available from April 1st - October 30th of each year.
