The new Water Treatment Plant was completed and put into operation the first week of May 2005. The new plant can produce 4.5 million gallons of water per day. The current demand is 1.7 million gallons of water per day.
The new plant is capable of producing water that exceeds all requirements of the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. The new facility will also eliminate problems with odor and taste that occurred with the old water treatment facility.
The official ribbon cutting was held on April 13, 2005.
